Patricia Mura Desert is a macro social worker with 10+ years of experience
serving diverse populations in health and mental health settings. Patricia is
the founder of La Distinction Enterprises including the early learning
center “La Distinction Academy” in Canton Massachusetts providing
holistic care and early childhood education to families with children. She
also serves as Board President of the nonprofit she co-founded Savesouls
Inc. She earned her MS in Social Work combining both clinical and social
enterprise administration from Columbia University, a BA in Psychology
with a minor in Sociology at Stony Brook University, and AA in Liberal
Arts and Humanities at Nassau Community College. She has earned
certifications in Human Services Management from the Network for
Social Work Management, Technical Skills for Online Education, and
Trauma-informed Pedagogy at Columbia University, and became a “Circle
of Security Parenting Facilitator” with Circle of Security International.
Patricia has been published in the American Psychology Association, The
New Social Worker, and the Journal of Emergency Medicine.
